Revisiting an old Quake III character i did

Here's a character I did around 13 or 14 years ago as an add on character to Quake III.  I thought it would be cool to redo him now to see how much video game graphics have improved over the years, and also how much I have hopefully too.

The original character

Here are some sketches I did for the new version, I think I've got enough ideas to start modeling.

Cat Lady Finished

Here are some renders of the cat lady.  I sculpted and polypainted it in zbrush, rendered in zbrush, and then touched up the renders in photoshop.

crazy lady wip

Here's a zbrush sculpt based off a sketch of mine.  I usually sculpt messed up looking guys, so i figured i might as well sculpt a messed up looking lady.  Its still just a WIP.

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish

Here's another fish guy I drew in ink and then colored with water colors.  Its based on the skull of a red-bellied piranha that I saw in the book Skulls: An Exploration of Alan Dudley's Curious Collection.  And speaking of fish, I made a simple game with angler fish for the barfcade game jam for Fantastic Fest, you can check it out here: http://eric-spitler.itch.io/fish-food

Bedlam Kickstarter Bobblehead

I made a Zbrush sculpt for the game Bedlam which is currently on kickstarter.  Go check it out now and give them some money!  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/skyshinegames/bedlam
When the game is funded the bobble head I sculpted will be created and given to some of the backers.  The concept for the character was done by John Mueller.

The Banner Saga Sculpt

I liked the 2d art in the game The Banner Saga so I decided to try and sculpt one of the characters "Gunnulf" in 3d.  Sculpted, textured and rendered in zbrush.

Hello N0de W0rld

There's a new collaborative art project like Substrata, called N0de W0rld.  This time its a cyberpunk theme.  I'm messing around with a preposterous future where some people are simple machines.  your tv is a genetically engineered/3dprinted cyborg-person, your refrigerator is a person, your car, and even your toilet is a person :)  If you do a good job of being a toilet, when you die, your digitized mind is transferred to another cyborg and you are reincarnated.  eventually you can become a person, and then finally you can attain nirvana and become a body-less being in cyberspace or some shit like that.  here's a drawing of toilet-man.

Fishy Guy

Here's some kind of fish creature I drew in pen and ink, and then tried to color using some old watercolor pencils and watercolor paint.  I forgot how much harder it is to color things in the real world :)  Its based off of the skull of a Gray Triggerfish that I saw in the really cool book called Skulls: An Exploration of Alan Dudley's Curious Collection.  For some reason the skull looked like some kind of pompous, royal fish guy.  I might try do a similar drawing of a piranha in the book.

You can flip through the book here.  http://www.amazon.com/Skulls-Exploration-Dudleys-Curious-Collection/dp/1579129129

female head sculpt again

I'm back to working on this again.  I recently started polypainting and adding fibermesh hair to her.  Hopefully its recognizable as Evangeline Lilly, aka Kate from lost.  i'm still planning on creating a couple facial expressions for her too.

Wow thats annoying, they compress the hell out of this image and it removes all the freckles and skin details. :(

updated with a less compressed image

Jack Elam Zsculpt

I did a quick zbrush sculpt of crazy looking actor Jack Elam.  The hair looked really terrible so I painted over it in photoshop.  Maybe some day i'll go back and fix this up.
